MYOB announces major product upgrades to benefit both practice and small business

29 Jan 2020

MYOB has conducted a significant upgrade of its MYOB Practice and MYOB Essentials product suite. Extensive enhancements to functionality and usability are set to be released for small business and accounting and bookkeeping customers this year.

Within MYOB Essentials, the upgrade brings a powerful reporting suite, a feature-rich, highly flexible payroll and mobile responsive experience to the platform. MYOB Essentials customers will have access to integrations from over 150 additional apps and add-ons, giving them greater scope to drive efficiency and productivity. MYOB Team, an employee management and self-service solution, will also be introduced.

The upgrade will give customers a streamlined product, saving time, reducing data entry and driving new insights into business performance, according to Dale Dixon, Head of Product at MYOB.

“We’re committed to helping Australian and New Zealand businesses succeed by providing intelligent, intuitive tools that make business life easier. We’ve listened to our customers and this upgrade has been built with them in mind - empowering accountants, advisors and small business with access to tools to help easily manage their financial performance and, ultimately, improve business performance,” he said.

MYOB Practice will also undergo extensive updates this year. The compliance workflow will soon be available for all main entities, including companies, partnerships, trusts, funds and self-managed super funds, with individuals available for clients from mid-February.

The updated MYOB Practice puts accountants and bookkeepers at the centre of the workflow, offering richer functionality such as the option to lock files once the work is done.

Add-ons will be available for MYOB Practice for the first time, with an initial focus on practice management, CRM and compliance.

“Our customer-led strategy is to create a world-class user experience for partners and customers that is simple and fast. We’ve significantly changed the way we develop and take products to market, with iterative releases which put new products in the hands of our customers as soon as possible,” Mr. Dixon said.

“We’re delighted that our customers will be able to access these enhanced experiences this year and can’t wait to share what’s coming next.”

The MYOB Essentials rollout will begin with new customers from March and a staggered upgrade to existing customers throughout the year. In 2020, MYOB Practice will have new compliance workflows to allow most Australian practices to complete their EOFY work.

Further enhancements and improvements are planned and will be announced throughout the year.
